Common Mistakes to Avoid
❌ HDD has much lower IOPS than SSD
HDD: 80-200 IOPS (random). SATA SSD: 50K-100K IOPS. NVMe SSD: 500K-1M+ IOPS. Random IOPS is the key metric for databases.
❌ IOPS rating is at 4K block size
SSD IOPS ratings use 4KB blocks. Larger I/O operations use fewer IOPS but move more data. Match block size to your workload.
