Real-World Applications
Common Mistakes to Avoid
A smaller lifter with a lower total can have a higher Wilks score than a larger lifter with a bigger total — that's the whole point of normalization.
IPF transitioned to the newer 'IPF GL Points' system in 2019, which some federations now prefer over the original Wilks formula for certain competitions.
Wilks formulas are sex-specific by design due to physiological differences. Comparing male and female Wilks scores directly is valid for normalized strength comparison, that IS the intended use.
