Real-World Applications
Common Mistakes to Avoid
AMH predicts response to ovarian stimulation. It is a poor predictor of natural conception — studies in women without infertility find low AMH does not meaningfully reduce the chance of conceiving naturally.
Combined hormonal contraception can lower measured AMH by roughly a fifth to a quarter. A result taken while on the pill may understate true reserve.
AMH assays are not fully standardised, and results from different platforms are not directly interchangeable. Serial monitoring should use the same laboratory.
