Step-by-Step Examples

- Room = 300 sq ft | Tile = 4 sq ft each
- Tiles = 300/4 x 1.10 = 82.5 -> 83 tiles
- Wall angle = 2x(20+15) = 70 ft / 8-ft = 9 pieces
30x20 ft office, 2x4 tiles.
- Room = 600 sq ft | Tile = 8 sq ft each

Real-World Applications
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Tiles at room edges are cut to fit. These partial tiles still count against a full tile and create waste. Always add 10% for edge cuts.
Main runners run the long dimension of the room every 4 feet. Cross tees fill in between every 2 feet (for 2x2) or every 4 feet (for 2x4). Plan the layout before ordering grid.
Start your grid from the center of the room so border tiles on opposite walls are equal width. Narrow border tiles (under 6 inches) look bad and are hard to cut accurately.
